Fluorite, also known as fluor-spar, is a mineral composed of Calcium Fluoride.  It is a widely occurring mineral and is often found with metallic minerals such as Galena and Sphalerite, but also with Barite, Quartz and Calcite.  It may fluoresce strongly in ultraviolet light.  Although blue is the most common color, it can also be red, purple, green, yellow and white.

Jasper is an opaque, impure variety of Quartz that is usually red, yellow or brown in color.  Jasper can appear as an opaque rock with shades of red due to mineral impurities.  Patterns can arise from the formation process and flow patterns in the sediment or volcanic ash that was saturated with silica which formed the banding or swirling designs in the rock.

Tiger-Eye is a gemstone that is usually yellow to red-brown in color with a silky luster.  This gemstone has an optical reflectance effect that arises from the fibrous structure of the material.  The physical and optical properties are identical or very near to those of a single Quartz Crystal.

Amethyst is a purple variety of Quartz often used as an ornament.  Upon exposure to heat, Amethyst generally becomes yellow, which some refer to as Citrine or "burnt" Amethyst.  It occurs in color from a light, slightly pinkish violet to a deep grape purple.  It is widely distributed as a mineral, but fine, clear specimens that are suitable for cutting as ornamental stones.

Amazonite is a Feldspar cousin and may have some Grey Quartz and Black Tourmaline inclusions mixed in with the base rock.  It is usually found in light green to blue-green,  lovely Turquoise colors.  This rock is considered  to be a soothing stone or "Hope Stone" because it inspires confidence and hope.  Legend says it's name comes from the belief that it was found in the Amazon River.

Opal is a mineraloid gel which is deposited at a relatively low temperature and may occur in the fissures of almost any kind of rock.  Colors range from clear to white, gray, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, rose, brown and black.  Opal is the national gemstone of Australia.
