Here is something different for the Turtle collector. This is an above
average Jade Sea Turtle carving. He measures 2" x 1 3/8" and has a good
polish. The Turtle has a deep Green color and is nicely detailed.
A super cute Turtle for your collection. Jade is a Silicate mineral
made from a Sodium and Aluminum mix that is usually found in igneous and/or
metamorphic rocks. Jade is as hard as Quartz, is exceptionally tough,
beautifully colored and can be delicately shaped or carved.

measures 1 3/4" x 1" and has a nice polish. She is carved holding her
hands but has no facial features. A great pocket piece for yourself

exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue. The color is usually considered
as due to trace amounts of Titanium, Iron or Manganese, in the massive material.
Some Rose Quartz contains microscopic Rutile needles which produce an asterism

Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental
crust. It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based minerals.
Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most important distinction
between types of Quartz is that of macro-crystalline, individual crystals
visible to the unaided eye, and micro-crystalline, where aggregates of crystals
are only visible under high magnification. There are many forms of Quartz
including Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, and Carnelian which are results of
mineral impurities or heat treatments.

Here is a very nice, very beautiful Big Horn Sheep Ram carved from Picture
Jasper. He measures 1 1/2" x 2" with a nice polish. Jasper is
a unpredictable, very beautiful gemstone that is sure to please just about
anyone. Big Horn Sheep are native to the Black Hills in South Dakota.
If you can visit to see one, then you can purchase one from the gift department.

Jasper is an opaque, impure variety of Quartz that is usually red, yellow
or brown in color. Jasper can appear as an opaque rock with shades of
red due to mineral impurities. Patterns can arise from the formation
process and flow patterns in the sediment or volcanic ash that was saturated
with silica which formed the banding or swirling designs in the rock.

Here is something different for the Rose Quartz and/or carving
collector. This is an extra large Rhinoceros made from Rose Quartz.
He measures 3 1/2" x 1 3/4" and has a good polish. The Rhinoceros
carving has good detail which is difficult to show in the photo. He
stands with his head tilted down as if he was about to take off charging through the Sahara.
This is a one-of-a-kind carving offered here at the Rock Shed. Rose

Here is a real neat, two-tone Turtle made from Unakite and Peach Aventurine.
He measures 1 3/4" x 3/4" and has a nice polish. Unakite is
an altered Granite composed of pink Feldspar, green Epidote and clear Quartz.
It exists in various shades of green and pink and is usually mottled in appearance.
Good quality Unakite is considered a semiprecious stone and will take a good
polish and is often used in jewelry and other lapidary work such as eggs,
spheres and carvings.

This is a nice gemstone carving of a Brontosaurus made from White
Fiber Optics. It measures approximately 1" x 2 1/4" and has a nice polish.
This really cute guy has a very unique design and color mix. Fiber
Optics are used in information transmission lines for our telephones, cable
television and computers. This material is pure Silica which can aid
in the transmission of signals at great distances. Fiber Optics have
an interesting characteristic in that you can see thru the object in the direction
that signals would pass through. This is usually well enough to read
print when it is laid on a newspaper. This is similar to the eye or
radiance you see in natural Tiger-Eye stone.

Star, a Butterfly and a Pyramid. They are carved from Sodalite, Red

Here is a beautiful Picture Jasper Brontosaurus carving. It has a
great color mix with a hint of Black details. This dinosaur measures
2 1/4" x 1". This would make a great gift for the dinosaur collector.
Jasper, or spotted stone, is an opaque, impure variety of Quartz that is
usually red, yellow or brown in color. Picture Jaspers simultaneously
exhibit several variants such as banding, flow patterns, dendrites or color
variations. This results in what appears to be scenes or images in a
cut section of the Jasper.

Here is a very nice, very pretty Dog carved
from Opalite. He measures 2 1/8" in height and 1 3/8" in width and has
a very nice opalescent shine and color.
Opalite is a trade name for a man-made precious opal imitation.
It is usually made of glass or resin. Man-made or not, it is definitely
a beautiful "gem stone" and one of my personal favorites.
