Multi Colored Jasper

This is multi-colored Jasper from somewhere in the Southwest.  It is will vary in color from Purple, Brown and Beige in color.  It will polish nicely and the pieces measure form approximately 3/4" to 2" in size.  It is great for the rock tumbler or use it just as is for fountains or other decorative uses.  This batch was photographed wet to show the colors better.   A great rock at a great price.    1 Lb. $3.50

moonstone

Moonstone

Here is an old favorite that has returned to the Rock Shed's crushed rock division.  This is a very nice, above average quality Moonstone with Black Tourmaline.  These pieces measure approximately 1" to 3" and may have to be broken down with a hammer if you have a smaller 3 pound tumbler.  The Moonstone has a super shimmer and lots of sparkly character.  A great rock to tumble or keep it as it for your rock garden. 1 Lb. $5.00

tiger eye

Tiger Eye

After a long awaited return, the Tiger Eye is back at the Rock Shed!!  This is a new batch, of a more beautiful than ever, crushed Gold Tiger Eye from South Africa.  These sparkling specimens measure approximately 3/4" up to 2" and have some Blue and Red accents.  The rock has a rich Gold color and lots of shiny chatoyance, or cat-eye effects.  A super great rock for the super great lapidary artist. 1 Lb. $8.00

Amazonite

Apache Tears

 

These are Apache Tears from 3/8" to 1" in size.  Although somewhat more difficult to polish than the harder stones like agates, Apache Tears make a very pretty tumbled stone. 

Apache Tears will polish best by not mixing with other types of stone and using an additional step with 1000 grit Aluminum Oxide.  In a rotary tumbler, use plastic pellets to cushion them in the last three finish steps.  If you are using a vibrating tumbler, use ceramic media with them in the last three steps for best results.

Amazonite

Sodalite

 

We have a limited amount of the blue sodalite back in stock from 3/4" to 1 1/2" in size.  Although this stone will polish with harder rock, it is slightly softer and will grind away faster.  It is best tumbled by itself.  It makes a very pretty tumbled stone. 

Fluorite will polish best by not mixing with other types of stone and using an additional step with 1000 grit Aluminum Oxide and requires a special polishing process.

Here is some very nice, above average quality White and Grey Howlite.  This crushed rock comes in sizes from 3/4" to 1 1/2" and is ready for your tumbler, fountain, aquarium or rock garden.  This material will grind quicker than most harder rock and would best be tumbled by itself.  It us White in color with Grey accents that weave in and out for a very interesting, intricate design.  A must have for any rock hound. 1 Lb. $3.50

 Turritella Agate

Turritella Agate

Mexican Lace Agate

  Lake Superior

Lake Superior Agate

Here is a new item at the Rock Shed. These are Lake Superior Agates in various sizes from 3/8" to 1 1/4" straight as it comes from our barrel.  This is a great quality tumbling rock and has good designs and colors. 

Lake Superior Agates are a type of agate found on the shores of Lake Superior. They are stained by iron thus the rich red, orange and yellow coloring. This is caused by the iron leached from rocks during their formation. The amount of oxidation and the concentration of iron determined the color and/or the width between the agate's bands.

This is Carnelian Agate Nodules in sizes from 1" to 1 1/2+".  These are natural Carnelian Nodules from Brazil.  Great for the rock tumbler, cutting cabochons or just as is for fountains or other decorative uses.

This is something different for the "Rock Hound" from the crushed rock department at the Rock Shed.  Here is a very beautiful batch of above average quality, crushed Apatite from Madagascar.  The pieces range in size from 3/4" to 1 1/4" and each has a very unique design and color all its own. This is great rock for the tumbler or use it just as is for fountains or other decorative uses.  This batch was photographed wet to show the colors better.  This material has a super range of Blues and Greens with a very sparkly, shiny appearance. 

Note:  This is a softer material than most other crushed rock we have available.  We suggest running this rock alone and start with the 120-220 Silicon Carbide Grit.
