is usually red, yellow or brown in color. Some Jaspers simultaneously
exhibit several variants such as banding, flow patterns, dendrites or color
variations. This results in what appears to be scenes or images in
a cut section of the Jasper.

This is a larger, pretty gemstone Heart carved from Picasso Marble.
It measures 3 1/2" x 1 1/4"x 1" and has a nice hand-polish. The Heart
has a nice soft Earth tone colors with Tan accents. There is only
one (1) available.

of Calcite. It is used extensively for sculpture, building materials
and has many decorative uses. The pure white Marble is probably the

Eye. The heart has very nice gold flash and a nice polish. It
measures nearly 2 3/4" x 2 1/2"x 1 1/4". Very nice! There

Tiger-Eye is a gemstone that is usually yellow to red-brown in color
with a silky luster. This gemstone has an optical reflectance effect
that arises from the fibrous structure of the material. The physical
and optical properties are identical or very near to those of a single Quartz
Crystal.

The Heart measures 1 1/2" x 1 3/4"x 1" and has a nice polish. Something

to like item. Unakite is an altered Granite composed of pink Feldspar,
green Epidote and clear Quartz. It exists in various shades of green
and pink and is usually mottled in appearance. Good quality Unakite
is considered a semiprecious stone and will take a good polish and is often
used in jewelry and other lapidary work such as eggs, spheres and carvings.

man-made Fiber Optic Hearts in Green, a multi-colored one and a Goldstone.
Each Heart measures 1 1/8" x 1 1/8" x 1/2". They have beautiful, vibrant

clear to the eye with very nice sparkly inclusions and light smoky tint.

Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental
crust. It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based minerals.
Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most important distinction
between types of Quartz is that of macro-crystalline, individual crystals
visible to the unaided eye, and micro-crystalline, where aggregates of crystals
are only visible under high magnification. There are many forms of
Quartz including Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, and Carnelian which are
results of mineral impurities or heat treatments.

Here is a unique find!! This is an above average quality Black Skin Agate
Heart. It measures 2" x 2 1/4" x 3/4" and has a nice polish.
The pretty Heart has an unique Agate design on both sides. There

silica in solution possibly derived from the decomposition of silicates
in the lava. The siliceous matter is deposited in regular layers resulting
in the banded or striped formation.

Here is something different from the gift department at the Rock Shed.
This is a very nice, hand crafted Heart Soapstone Box with inlaid Abalone
shell design. It measures 5 3/4" x 4 1/2" x 1 3/8" and has a smooth
finish. The box has a removable lid with an intricate hand carved
floral design on each side. The inlay Abalone shell design has a pretty
Pink and Blue floral pattern. A perfect gift for that perfect person.

Soapstone, also known as steatite or "soap rock", is a metamorphic
rock type of a Talc-schist. It is largely composed of the mineral
Talc and is rich in magnesium. It has been a well known carving media
for thousands of years. It is a relatively soft substance and may
feel soapy to the touch, thus the name Soapstone. It is chemically
stable and resistant to acid. Soapstone is often used in carvings,
inlaid design, sculpture, coasters, and kitchen countertops and sinks.

This is a pretty gemstone Heart carved from Utah Septarian measuring
nearly 2" x 2"x 5/8". Something different for that special person
or to add to the collection. There is only one (1) available.
Septarian, also know as a type of Concretion, is a volume of sedimentary
rock in which a mineral cement fills the porosity. Concretions are
often ovoid or spherical in shape. They form within layers of sedimentary
strata that has already been deposited. It is composed of a Carbonate
mineral such as Calcite, a Silica such as Chert, Flint or Jasper or an Iron
Oxide such as Goethite or Hematite. It is commonly found in Shale,
Siltstones and Sandstones.

This is a pretty and very unique Ocean Jasper Heart. It measures
2 1/4" x 2"x 7/8" and has a nice polish. Something different for that

This material is a new find from Madagascar. The deposit formed as
a rhyolite flow but has been completely silicified. The Rhyolitic eyes or
orbs come in an astonishing array of colors and color combinations. The
back ground can be white, pink, green, red, or yellow. Botryoidal formations
as well as white and deep green druzy are also common. This deposit has
been discovered at the edge of the ocean. It can only be seen and collected
at low tide. The area has no road so the material must be transported to
civilization by boat. This material is fast becoming a rarity in the
Jasper ocean fields, so get one while it is still available.

Here is an interesting find!! This is a very nice Birds Eye
Rhyolite heart. It measures over 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x over 1 1/4" and
has been hand polished, therefore close observation would reveal some smaller
flatter areas. This material has a softer composition so it will not
hold a shiny, polished finish. A good catch for the heart collector.

Rhyolite is an igneous, volcanic rock that is composed of Felsic, or
Silicate minerals such as Silica, Aluminum, Sodium and Potassium.
The material is similar to that of Granite, Pumice and Obsidian but due
to the cooling process when formed, Rhyolite did not form any crystals,
thus changing the texture of the material.

Aventurine is a form of Quartz that is characterized by its translucent
and mineral inclusions that give it a shimmering or glistening effect called
"aventurescence". The most common color is green but it may also be
