$35.00 PEN70c  This is a very pretty sterling Silver pendant with a 26 x 38 mm Phrenite stone.  This pendant measures 2 1/2" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the setting.  The bail size is 3/8". 

Phrenite is a delicate lime green to a cloudy water color in which the green usually predominates.  This mineral appears to have a  glow with inside the stone.  They are relatively uncommon but are usually sought after for use in jewelry.  Phrenite has a translucent appearance with a high luster.  Depending on the clarity of the stone, it may or may not have internal Epidote inclusions.  This material is found in Australia.

$16.00 PN604b  This is a very pretty sterling Silver pendant with an interesting inlaid Abalone shell pinwheel pattern.  This pendant measures 1 1/2" x 1/2" and has beautiful Blue and Pink color and an unique "questions mark" design.  The bail size is 1/4"

Abalone are a group of shellfish with large shells.  These shells are composed of material which is highly iridescent which gives rise to a range of strong and changeable colors making them very attractive as decorative objects including jewelry.  The colors vary from species to species but the iridescent nacre that lines the inside of the shell can range from silvery white, to pink, red and green-red, deep blues, greens and purples.

$36.00 PN605b  This is a very pretty sterling Silver pendant with a 24 x 42 mm dark Blue Lapis stone.  This pendant measures 2 3/8" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the setting.  The bail size is 3/8". 

Lapis is a stone with a long tradition of being considered a gem.  It is usually deep blue in color and is opaque.  It is a rock and not a mineral as it is made up from various other minerals.  The main component is Lazurite which is a Feldspar Silicate.  Lapis may also contain Calcite, Sodalite and Pyrite.  It is found worldwide.

$26.00 PN606c  This is a very pretty sterling Silver pendant with a 20 mm x 30 mm oval Red Carnelian stone.  This pendant measures 1 7/8" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the setting.  The bail size is 1/2".  The stone is set in a lovely sterling silver designer setting.  A nice touch.

Carnelian is a red or reddish-brown variant of Chalcedony but also may come in the colors of orange and pink.  It is quite common and usually found in translucent pebble form.  It is found in several areas of Europe, Iceland and Madagascar.

$25.00 PN608b  Here is something different from the Rock Shed's jewelry department.  This is a very nice, above average quality 10 mm x 20 mm multi-colored Opal pendant with a sterling Silver setting.  The pendant measures 1 1/4" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the setting.  The bail size is 1/4".

Opal is a mineraloid gel which is deposited at a relatively low temperature and may occur in the fissures of almost any kind of rock; most commonly found with Limonite, Sandstone, Rhyolite and Basalt.  The colors range from clear through white, gray, red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, brown and black.  Common Opal is truly amorphus, but precious Opal has a structural element.  Opal can form or replace fossils.  Although these fossils are not of any scientific interest to scientists, they do appeal to collectors

$26.00 PN609b   This is a very pretty sterling Silver pendant with a 14 mm x 22 mm sparkly Moonstone cabochon.  This stone has nice blue iridescence with a touch of yellow.  This pendant measures 1 1/2" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the setting.  The bail size is 1/4". 

Moonstone is a gemstone quality Feldspar.  It has a sparkly appearance that is caused by light reflecting off flakes of Hematite.  Moonstone is sometimes known as Orthoclase due to the cleavages in the material and pearly luster.  It is commonly found in most Granites and other felsic igneous rock and in Pegmatite masses.

Amber is the common name for the fossil resin or tree sap that is appreciated for its inherent and interesting mixture of color.  It is widely used for the manufacture of ornamental objects including jewelry.  Although it is not mineralized, it is sometimes considered and used as a gemstone.  Most of the world's Amber is in the range of 30-90 million years old.

$24.00 PN607c This is a very pretty sterling Silver pendant with a 18 mm x 32 mm Crystal Quartz stone with Black Tourmaline inclusions. This pendant measures 2" from the top to the bottom.  The bail measures 3/8". 

Quartz is the second most common mineral in the Earth's continental crust.  It is mainly composed of Silica or Silica based minerals.  Although Quartz is known by a variety of names, the most important distinction between types of Quartz is that of macro-crystalline, individual crystals visible to the unaided eye, and micro-crystalline, where aggregates of crystals are only visible under high magnification.  There are many forms of Quartz including Chalcedony, Amethyst, Citrine, and Carnelian which are results of mineral impurities or heat treatments.
